Greetings!
Greetings!
J Exchange Visitors who were in the United States during 2010 must file federal income tax paperwork with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
The International Scholars Office provides an on-line tax preparation service called CINTAX, a secure web-based program that prepares the appropriate forms and provides step-by-step instructions and assistance for foreign nationals who are non-residents for tax purposes. CINTAX will help you determine whether you are considered a resident or non-resident for tax purposes. CINTAX also includes a helpful "frequently asked questions" section. There is no charge for using CINTAX but it does require you have a UW NetID.
Please note that advisers in the International Scholars Office DO NOT give tax advice and WILL NOT answer even the most basic tax questions.
